Prayer to Our Lady of the Sea
“Be a companion to travelers,” this is the cry and plea of those departing and returning, the cry of every loving person. Traveling is an adventure, and being away from home is lonely, but the mother’s prayer, “May God be with you,” “Travel safely,” “Don’t forget, visit Our Lady twice,” soothes the loneliness of the journey. This is how you are to us, and we are to you. Your presence knows no distance. You are our mother wherever we are. Your eyes guide us wherever we may be. Your tenderness accompanies us. We travel and return, and stand before your statue, O our mother, grateful and praising your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, who has given you to us as a mother, repeating tirelessly, “Whoever is a servant of the Virgin will never perish.” Amen.
