Prayer for the City

“O God, the Almighty, who is capable of all things, abundant in love and mercy, listen to our prayers and shine your light upon this city, your city. It bears the name of God and the name of your holy book. Its sons and daughters, since the earliest discipleship, cling to you, for you are our God, the rock of our salvation. Open to us the doors of your love, the gates of your glory, and take us by the hand on the path of truth, peace, and freedom. Grant us, O Christ our God, the knowledge that you alone are our Savior. Bless all those who seek the truth and do not let barriers separate us. Bestow upon us strength, courage, and perseverance in striving for the kingdom. Come, Holy Spirit, and renew in your flock the gifts of unity, love, and communion. Make us worthy to receive every gift you desire to bestow upon us. To you, O Virgin Mary, we entrust the men, women, youth, children, families, residents, and visitors of our city. You are our gatekeeper, the guardian of our shores. You are our aid and companion on the path of holiness to meet your holy Son. We ask you, O saints, friends of God, St. John Mark, St. Peter, St. George, St. James, St. Joseph, St. Charbel, St. Nematallah, St. Rafqa, and St. Aquilina, pray for our beloved city and seek for us the heavenly blessings, goodness, prosperity, and grace. O God, may our city bear witness to your love, and let your peace and security reign over us now and forever. Amen.”
